What to include if you want a useful answer
Most questions we get are a version of "what is this worth", and most of them arrive without the two facts needed to answer: the weight and the karat stamp. If you can give us the weight to a tenth of a gram and whatever is stamped on the piece — 585, 14K, 750, or nothing at all — we can usually tell you where the calculator's figure comes from and whether an offer you have been given is reasonable.
Say whether the piece has stones in it, too. A six gram ring with a decent stone might be four grams of gold, and every figure on this site prices metal only.
Three things we cannot do
Value something from a photograph. Gold is priced by weight and purity, and a photo tells us neither. Anyone who quotes you a number from a picture is guessing.
Buy your gold, or recommend a particular buyer. We do not trade metal and we take no commission from anyone who does. That is the whole reason the payout ranges on this site are worth reading.
Give tax or legal advice. Whether a sale is reportable where you live is a question for someone qualified in your country, not for a price calculator.
Corrections to the price data
If a figure here looks wrong, please tell us which page, which currency, and what you expected to see. Price corrections go to the front of the queue, ahead of everything else in this inbox, because a calculator that is quietly wrong is worse than no calculator.
